Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

The Journal of Researches in Mechanics of Agricultural Machinery evaluates research manuscripts through double-anonymous peer review before acceptance. Authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers, and reviewers’ identities are concealed from authors. Every research manuscript that passes initial screening is assessed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

Review stages

1. Submission and administrative check: After submission through the journal system, the editorial office checks that the required files and information are complete, the journal’s formatting instructions have been followed, and an anonymized manuscript is available. An incomplete submission is returned to the corresponding author for completion. This check does not constitute scientific peer review.

2. Initial editorial assessment: The Editor-in-Chief assesses the manuscript’s fit with the journal’s aims and scope, its initial scientific quality, and apparent originality or research ethics concerns. A manuscript that does not meet the initial requirements may be rejected before external review, with a reason communicated to the author.

3. Independent peer review: For manuscripts that pass initial assessment, the editor selects qualified and independent reviewers. Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest and keep the manuscript and review information confidential. They assess the research methods, originality, validity of the findings, scientific presentation, and relevance to the journal.

4. Editorial decision: Reviewer reports inform, but do not replace, the editorial decision. After considering at least two independent review reports, the editor decides whether to reject the manuscript, request revisions, or accept it. The editor may seek an additional review when needed. The decision and applicable anonymized reviewer comments are communicated to the corresponding author through the journal system.

5. Revision and reassessment: When revisions are requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript and a clear, point-by-point response to the reviewers’ comments. The revised manuscript may be returned to reviewers. An invitation to revise does not guarantee acceptance.

6. Final decision and publication preparation: Final acceptance is communicated after the scientific evaluation and necessary checks are complete. The accepted article then enters the journal’s preparation and publication schedule. An author’s institutional position or service to the journal does not confer priority in review or publication.

A submission by an editorial board member, or a manuscript involving a conflict of interest for the handling editor, is assigned to another qualified editor without that conflict. If the journal publishes special issues, their manuscripts undergo the same review standards and editorial oversight as regular submissions.
